Linea - An Introduction

Linea is a large continent far to the east across the Cerul Sea. It was landed upon and named almost two centuries ago by the Albasran Dynasty. The king at that time named the land Linea for his wife, who sadly lost her life on the voyage from the old world.

Portis has grown from its humble beginnings into the most prosperous nation in Linea. Covering the western coast from the border with Ulvarad and the Peaks of Solem in the north to the Dragonscar Alps in the south. Albasra holds the monopoly on all sea trade to and from Linea. For most of its existence, Portis has had to defend its most southern border in the region of Korth from an almost constant outpouring of Dinosaurs from The Valley of Transit.

To the west of Albasra is the Qey Empire. Citizens of the Qey are primarily made up from the descendents of native dwellers of Linea before the Albasran Landings. The Qey Empire is landlocked but remains the largest nation by square mile and population on the continent. Its main exports are from farming and cattle. The Qey are also known for their combat readiness, having defended their lands since the first arrival of colonists from the old world. They are most famous for their skills on horseback and atop Dinosaurs. Legends state that Qeys learn to ride before they learn to walk.

Cutting across the middle of Linea are the Dragonscar Alps. The majority of the Alps are as yet unmapped, having claimed the lives of countless groups who have attempted to chart the treacherous peaks. This has given rise to myths and legends which speak of the mountains being overrun with dragons and their kin. The only well documented area of the Alps lie at their most eastern point in the Valley of Transit, from which hundreds of Dinosaurs emerge every year, travelling up from a region known as the Sudden Forest in the south.

The Sudden Forest is a large area of dense jungle south of the Dragonscar Alps. Very little is known about this mysterious woodland but it is known for the steady horde of Dinosaurs that roam up through the Valley of Transit. The Dinosaurs are wild and disorganised but the threat is significant enough for Portis to station a permanent garrison of Dinosaur hunters and tamers on its southern border in Korth. The steady flow of Dinosaurs has been turned into a roaring trade in southern Portis as a plentiful resource.
