Albasran Dynasty
The Albanian Dynasty is one of the oldest recorded family names in Linea. They first arrived by ship in the year 14 BLE (Before Linean Era) and founded the Kingdom of Albasra, which fell during the Albasran War. The descendants of the first king lost the crown of Albasra in the year 153 AL (After Liberation) following the Albasran War. While they may have lost the crown, the remaining members of the Albasran Dynasty still hold sway.
Olsted Albasra (Born: 46 BLE. Died: 34 AL )
Olsted was the first King of Albasra. He and his merchant company were the first to discover the continent while attempting to find new routes for trade and saw an opportunity to found a new monarchy. His rule came with significant opposition in its early years. It is said he lead an army made up of his own crew and native dwellers in the War of Liberation against the tyrants that ruled the land before them. The culmination of these battles were considered significant enough by scholars to establish a new era. Olsted continued to reign as a just and wise ruler until 34 AL where he died from natural causes at the age of 80. He was succeeded by his son, Kilnen.
Linea Albasra (Born: Unknown BLE. Died 15 BLE)
Linea was the wife of Olsted and mother of Kilnen. Little is known of Linea except she was Elven, was said to have been a singular beauty and that she died due to a mysterious illness which befell many Elves on board the ships to the new world. The continent was named in her honour by Olsted shortly after landing. Legends speak of her burial place being somewhere in the foothills of the Peaks of Solem but the exact location has been lost. References to Linea can still be found in bardic ballads such as The Angel of the Sea and The Lady of the Waves.
Kilnen Albasra (Born: 26 BLE. Died: 88 AL)
Kilnen was the Half-Elven son of Olsted and Linea, and the second king of Albasra. He was born in the old world and made the journey as a child. He was well educated for the time as the only child of a wealthy merchant family. Following the War of Liberation, Kilnen spent much of his time learning about the new world from local natives and became a well known scout and Pathfinder. As Olsted grew older and more frail, Kilnen became more and more engaged in matters of the crown. After his father’s passing, Kilnen ascended the throne in 34 AL, at the age of 60. Kilnen’s reign was an unstable one. Many courtiers at the time noted that he seemed more interested in exploring than ruling. It was this lack of focus on maintaining the Kingdom that gave rise to the Melemese (58 AL) and Korthian (60 AL) rebellions. Kilnen attempted to lead armies against the rebellions but was not successful. Losing such large portions of his Kingdom humbled Kilnen, causing him to settle down and wrest control of what remained of Albasra. He married the love of his life, Ingrid and fathered two daughters, Elyn and Madeline. Kilnen passed away in 88 AL, aged 114. He was succeeded by Elyn.
Elyn Albasra (Born: 62 AL. Died: 142 AL)
Elyn was the first Queen of Albasra. She ascended the throne at the age of 26. Despite her father’s best efforts, she inherited an unstable monarchy. Throughout her reign, she would employ a number of questionable tactics to re-establish the Kingdom. Her first tactic was to levy stronger taxes on the citizens of the already ailing country, in an attempt to develop a stronger army to defend against skirmishes on the southern border against Melem. This would work in the short term but it only extended the rivalry between the two nations. She then attempted to incite war between Korth and Melem to draw attention away from Albasra but it was futile, the friendship between Korth and Melem was too strong. Finally, in a fit of desperation, she sought an mercenary army from the Qey Empire, offering a large portion of the remaining treasury to prepare for war against Melem and Korth. She died in 142 AL, aged 80, before she could see the war she passed to her daughter, Lenore.
Lenore Albasra (Born 94 AL. Died: 168 AL)
Lenore was the last Queen of Albasra. She ascended the throne in 142 AL, aged 48. Her monarchy was to be the last in Albasran history, as war broke out soon after her coronation. After a lifetime of being taught histories of a time when Albasra was a powerful nature, she had built up a deep seated dislike of Melem and Korth. She fought the war with a vicious fervour. believing her reign over the nations of Albasra, Melem and Korth a birth right. She would often spend time on the southern front, leading from a tactical standpoint but also participating on the battlefield, earning the title of the War Queen of Albasra. She abdicated the throne in 153 AL as Melemese and Korthian troops entered the capital city of Albasra to seize power of the Kingdom. Soon after, a new republic was established. Combining Albasra, Melem and Korth into one nation once more. Lenore died in 168 AL, aged 74.
